Global pig feed insights shared in Alltech’s agri-food outlook

Global animal feed production remained steady in 2023 at 1.29 billion mt, a slight decrease (0.2%) of 2.6 million mt from 2022’s estimates, according to the Alltech’s 2024 Agri-Food Outlook, which considers data from 142 countries and more than 27,000 feed mills. Global pig feed production faced many challenges and led to a 1.23% decrease in pig feed production (320.80 mmt, -4.01 mmt). Latin America was the only region that increased pig feed production in 2023, while Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America all faced challenges. ASF continues to wreak havoc on pig production in China and Southeast Asia.
