He is also an Honorary Professor in Food Economics at the University of Nottingham, UK and has several food and meat industry projects in China, S E Asia and Africa in partnership with local institutions. He is also a consultant for the Asian Development Bank. Dr Strak gained his MA (Econ) and PhD from the University of Manchester, UK in 1981 and after tenure there he left to become the Chief Economist at the International Wool Secretariat in London dealing with forecasting and measuring advertising effectiveness. Since 1993 he has been a consultant, analyst and writer in the food and drinks industry with clients in almost every continent in the world. He has written two books on the UK food and drink industry and one on agricultural protectionism.
