Japan: Mass slaughtering of pigs due to Foot-and-Mouth
There are plans in place for Japan to slaughter over 80,000 pigs and cows.
The slaughter will take place in the southern prefecture of Miyazaki due to an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.

Reports state that 73,653 pigs and 6,604 cows will be sent to slaughter from 86 farms.

Hirotaka Akamatsu, Japan’s Farm Minister stated that the government will compensate farmers.
