ASF Romania: 42,000 pigs culled on commercial farm

The outbreak was confirmed on February 16. That was reported by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). The farm is located in Slobozia, in the county Argeş, about 80km west of the capital Bucharest. According to the report, 23 animals were tested positive in a population of 41,786.

The outbreak was also mentioned in publications of the county’s Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Directorate (DSVSA). The authorities, as do local media, mention that it is a DanBred breeding farm. When approached, the Danish breeding company chose not to comment on the situation.

Ever since the first outbreaks of ASF in Romania in 2017, over 600,000 pigs had to be culled.
