IPPA donation ensures careers in pig industry

Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) donated $60,000 to the Ellsworth Swine Management Program. This donation will help Ellsworth Community College students to continue to prepare for a career in pork production.

The IPPA donation will be used for programme development, new innovations for students to learn on, and for recruiting and attracting new students. The Ellsworth Swine Management Program is one of the few in the country and it has been recognized with numerous awards for being one of the nation’s top vocational programs.

Invest in the future
President Scott Tapper, a producer from Webster City, says the donation was not a difficult decision to make. “We want to invest in the future of our industry,” Tapper said. “We’ve made a commitment to our youth programs and this donation is just part of that effort. We’re glad we can help out.”

Another two years

Mike Faga, associate professor of swine management at the Iowa Falls school, says the money will help ensure that Ellsworth can continue offering the program on a full-time basis for the next two years.
