One of the world's leading pig breeders - Hypor - has
announced the delivery of the largest ever delivery from Canada by air of live
pigs into China.
In total, 816 pigs were transported from the company's nucleus farm in
Saskatchewan in Canada to Qindao in the Chinese Shandong province marking the
first stage of the stocking process of the company's joint venture farms in
China.
Marc Broadbent of Hypor China, commented that "such a shipment was only
possible through the professionalism of the people who managed the pigs' journey
from their barns in Canada, via road and air to China".
Pigs arrive safe
All 816 pigs
arrived safe and sound. Upon arrival in China, production manager Geert Rutten
and farm manager Wenbo Zhang organised the hiring of fifteen flat bed trucks to
transport the pigs to the farm. A disinfection process of the trucks and their
drivers ensued.
Hypor offspring production is set to begin by mid December.
