Vion bacon plant at Wiveliscombe is celebrating after picking up a handful of awards at this year’s Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week event.

Vion’s site in Wiveliscombe, Somerset, is home to the Case & Son’s brand.
Recognised as the premier competition in the bacon sector, this year’s event attracted more than 230 entries, and in the face of some stiff competition, Vion bacon products led the way.
In the Brands category, Case & Son’s Smoked Wiltshire Cure Thick Cut Bacon was selected as the winner in the Smoked Bacon Category, and was then chosen as Overall Brands category winner.
Having been presented with the awards by celebrity judge Oz Clarke, Nick Hannam, commercial director for Case & Son’s, commented: “Our Wiltshire Cure is based on an age old recipe and we are delighted that it has received such expert recognition.”
Vion Wiveliscombe supplies Morrisons with the bacon that won the retail unsmoked bacon class, the overall Retail bacon category, and to crown the day, the overall champion with its Butchers Style Ayrshire Middle Bacon.
The Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week event took place 21 – 27 March.
