The disease has hit five pigs raised by a household in the province, the Department of Animal Health under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said. Their specimens were tested positive to PRRS.Veterinary agency
The local veterinary agency culled the infected pigs to prevent PRRS from spreading, and intensified disease surveillance.
Vietnam reported earlier this month that PRRS had again broken out in Khanh Hoa and Ca Mau provinces, after declaring it eradicated in August. A June outbreak in the central region infected 60,000 pigs.
Not only Vietnam, also the country of Myanmar is currently suffering from PRRS – just like China was this year and last year, when about 1 million pigs were killed due to PRRS.China?
Nevertheless, China denies to be the source of the disease outbreaks, the Chinese ministry of agriculture said, adding that the disease in China closely resembles that found in the United States.
“We got the disease from abroad and there is no evidence to show it spread from China to anywhere else,” a ministry spokesman said. For the latest pig news, subscribe here
