Rosselkhoznadzor for the Krasnodar Territory has stated that the new hotbed of African Swine Fever was registered in pork farm “Caucasus” in the Tbilisi area. Laboratory tests have confirmed signs of viral activity in samples taken from dead pigs.

The farm has lost 34 pigs on the first day of the outbreak, in total there were 4320 pigs at the farm.  Region officials are currently making necessary arrangements to prevent and eliminate the source of African Swine Fever. A decision made by the regional authorities has concluded that the cost of the damage will be compensated to the owners of the farm in full.
The district administration of Rosselkhoznadzor  has already sent a team to Tbilisi district. Head of the Department for anti-epizootic measures and preventive veterinary work under the State Administration for the Krasnodar Territory, Ivan Ralko noted that far from the farm “Caucasus” its employees found a number of dead animals, and the farm workers insisted that it was the real cause of the outbreak.
