Spain-based feed additive producer Lucta will organise a pre-conference symposium, prior to this year’s edition of Digestive Physiology of Pigs, held in Colorado, United States.
The pre-conference, to be held on May 29, is fully called ‘Gut chemosensing: Integrating nutrition, gut function and metabolism in pigs’ and will be held in the Conference Center, Keystone, Colorado, from 1 pm to 6 pm.
Several themes will be touched on during the symposium. The theme ‘Gut chemosensory system and the interaction between enteroendocrine cells and visceral afferent nerves’, will be discussed in more detail during presentations of Alice P. Liou (Massachussetts General Hospital) and Kunio Torii (Ajinomoto).
Next, the theme ‘Involvement of gut chemosensing on gut growth, motility, and metabolism’ shall be discussed in a presentation by Douglas Burrin, Barbara Stoll and David Moore from the USDA’s Children’s Nutrition Research Center.
The theme ‘Involvement of gut chemosensing on the regulation of mucosal barrier function and defense mechanisms’ will be discussed in a presentation of Jonathan Kaunitz and Yasutada Akiba.
The fourth theme to be discussed is ‘Involvement of gut chemosensing on the regulation of nutrient absorption and energy supply’, by Oliver J. Mace (Heptares Therapeutics, UK).
Next, the theme ‘Involvement of gut chemosensing on the regulation of nutrient absorption and energy supply’ is touched on by Robert E. Steinert and C. Beglinger from the University Hospital Basel, Switzerland.
Closing off, the theme ‘Applications of gut chemosensing to manage gut integrity, feed intake, and metabolism in pigs’ is scheduled, presented by Y. Liu, J.E. Pettigrew (University of Illinois) and I. Ipharraguerre (Lucta).
