Germany: two finisher pig houses set ablaze

03-01-2007 | |

Two different houses at a German finisher pig facility have been set ablaze only within days of each other.

The first of the two fires in the town of Ohrsleben happened last Saturday – burning down a complete pig house. The second happened three days later – with the same result.

Luckily, hardly any pigs were present at the moment of both the fires, causing only three animals to die on Saturday.

Police officers found traces of attempts of setting ablaze more pig houses. Why the pig houses, offering space for about 500 pigs, were set ablaze, remains unclear up until now.
