FSIS directive on safe ingredients in pork production

The US Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a directive that provides inspection personnel with a list of approved substances for use in the production of pork, poultry and other meat products.

The substances that have been accepted by FSIS since January 2000 as being safe and suitable for use in pork production and the production of other meat products that are not listed in 9 CFR (Federal Code of Regulations) 424.21(c), can be found on the FSIS website

Substances that have been approved in 21 CFR for use in meat and poultry as food additives can be accessed in an on the USDA website.
