Dutch McDonald’s supplier guarantees non-castrated pigmeat

23-04-2007 | |

As of November, the Netherlands McDonald’s will source its pigmeat from a British supplier who guarantees the use of non-castrated pigs.

Stringent                                                                                                A spokesperson of the fast-food organisation commented that this particular supplier also delivers to the British outlets of McDonald’s. Mc Donald’s carries out a stringent programme of controls with its suppliers – through audit visits to their factories. Up until now, pig processors who deliver to McDonald’s were not directly controlled by the organisation. “Our supplier will now ensure that the pigs are not castrated.”

The pigs destined for McDonald’s are slaughtered at a young age to prevent them stinking.
