Dutch hope to create emisson-free pig house

04-05-2007 | |

The southern department of the Dutch Agri- & Horticulture Organisation (ZLTO) has plans to create a pig stall emitting no odours at all.

For that goal, all existing odour-reducing techniques will be combined. In addition, a new biological manure treatment system will be implemented.

The new pig stall will be built near the town of Gemert, the Netherlands, at a pig production site for 380 sows and 1,000 finishing pigs.

To close the pig farm, a new pig house will be built with space for an additional 1,9000 animals.
