ASF in Zambia

According to the World Health Organisation (OIE) African Swine Fever (ASF) has reoccurred in Zambia, reported by Dr Joseph Mubanga, director, Department of Veterinary and Livestock Development, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development , Lusaka, Zambia.

Measures carried out include: Quarantine, movement control inside the country, screening, zoning, no vaccination, no treatment of affected animals.



50 animals have died due to ASF. The OIE has said, “Epidemiological investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the outbreak and its extent.”
