The organisers of VIV Europe expect an visitor increase of nearly 20%.

The international livestock event VIV Europe is around the corner – it will be held from 20 to 22 June. This year’s theme is ‘smart farming and connecting data’. Proagrica, publisher of Pig Progress, will be present with Future Farming seminars.

Held every 4 years at the Jaarbeurs showgrounds in Utrecht, the Netherlands, VIV Europe, focuses particularly on the world of production from feed to meat. Special attention is paid to processing for poultry meat and eggs. The organisers will zoom in this year on the latest innovations and technologies related to smart farming.

Near 20% visitor increase is expected

At the previous edition, in May 2014, VIV Europe welcomed 20,212 visitors from 136 countries; its exhibition area contained almost 600 companies. Organisers VIV Worldwide expect a near 20% increase in visiting numbers this June, which would take the total attendance to about 25,000.

In agriculture, concepts like Big Data and Precision Farming most often apply to crop production. Nevertheless, the event will demonstrate that the underlying principles apply equally in the meat chain.

4 events in one week

Around VIV Europe, an International Week of Smart Food Production will be held. During this stretch of days, 3 additional events will take place:

• the 2nd edition of GFIA Europe;

• the inaugural European Halal Expo; and

• the new World Milk Expo.

Proagrica, publisher of Pig Progress and its sister titles All About Feed, Poultry World, Dairy Global and Future Farming will organise in this week 4 Future Farming seminars, focusing on smart poultry, dairy, pigs and arable production. These events will take place in the Future Farming Theatre, located in the heart of VIV Europe and GFIA Europe.

Entrance is free, but we advise to pre-register.

In 2017, the 1st edition of Proagrica’s Future Farming Theatre was held in Utrecht. At the pig event, influential speakers from Belgium addressed the audience on smart solutions for pigs.
