Chinese launch academic platform for pig facial technology

To encourage the further development of intelligent pig farming in China, an academic platform will be created for young talent. For that goal, the Chinese company Yingzi and Huazhong Agricultural University recently signed a cooperation in Guangzhou, southern China.

The newly introduced expert workstation should speed up the development of the company’s pig facial recognition technology. Yingzi focuses on genetic, veterinary medicine, nutrition, environmental control and production management by the use of artificial intelligence.

Yingzi launched its facial recognition technology on 22 March.

Improving pig facial recognition technology

In the coming years, Yingzi aims to improve its technology and hopes to continue to release new product applications. For the domestic market the need for animal health control and the production of safer and cheaper pig meat is growing rapidly, according to Prof Chen Yaosheng, founder of Yingzi, in a press release.

For that reason, the company considers it important to work on artificial intelligence. Prof Chen is convinced that large scale farms will use fully intelligent equipment in the future.

Yangxiang using Yingzi technology

The Chinese pig producer Yangxiang, well-known of its multi-storey swine farms, is one of the biggest users of the technique developed by Yingzi. Both firms confirmed this during the global launch of the artificial intelligence technique, on 22 March 2018.
