PEOPLE: Boehringer Ingelheim restructures Swine Team

Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica (BIVI) has restructured the leadership of its fast-growing swine division to better serve the needs of veterinarians and producers at a time of rapid sales growth.

“We have carefully thought through how to move our best people into strategic positions,” said Tim Bettington, vice president, sales and marketing, for BIVI. “We found the ideal solution by dividing the responsibilities between two excellent candidates who bring different strengths to their new positions.”

Lara Sheeley has been named senior associate director of marketing. She joins the swine marketing team from the BIVI companion marketing team. Since 2008, she was brand manager for VetmedinÒ, an innovative treatment for congestive heart failure in dogs. Sheeley previously had managed the product for Boehringer Ingelheim Australia.

She earned both a bachelor of medical science and master of management degrees from the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia.

Edgar Diaz, DVM assumes the role of senior associate director of technical managers and the Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Area Regional Control (PRRS ARC) team. Although he had been performing part of this role on an interim basis, these promotions formalize both of his responsibilities.

Diaz has appointed Eduardo Fano, DVM, formerly with Pig Improvement Company, as Americas technical manager. Fano earned a DVM from Sonora Technologic Institute; a masters of science degree from Mexico National University; and a PhD from the University of Minnesota.

“BIVI has become the recognized leader in swine health, and demand for our products and services continue to grow,” Bettington said. “This realignment gives our swine team the dynamic leadership it needs to grow internally and even more importantly, better serve our customers.”
