Golden Piglets at every stop on the North Devon Ale Trail

The Country Life Brewery, based at the Big Sheep in Abbotsham, wants to make sure you stay “ale and hearty” this spring. It has launched the North Devon Ale Trail, where alongside getting out in the great outdoors to enjoy wonderful beaches, stunning coastline and picturesque villages, you can also stop off and sample a selection of real ales.

It has brewed a new ale, Golden Piglet, especially for the ale trail.

“After our Golden Pig ale won the National Silver Award last year, lots of pubs wanted to stock the award-winning ale and customers kept ringing to find out which pubs stocked it,” said Simon Lacey, master brewer at Country Life Brewery.

“We then decided to set up the first North Devon Ale Trail and brew a new ale trail beer called Golden Piglet, inspired by the original idea of the Golden Pig.”

An Ale Trail map will take you to pubs and inns across North Devon that sell Country Life real ale. Get your passport stamped at each participating pub. Once you’ve collected 10 stamps you can pick up a bottle of cask conditioned ale. After 20 stamps you get a pack of three bottles. Then after 40 stamps you will get a Country Life T-shirt and a pack of six bottles of ales.
