Canada: Nearly two dozen swine killed in transport accident

A Toronto highway remained closed for over 10 hours following an accident with the transportation on swine. The accident killed nearly two dozen pigs.

The lane reopened on Monday afternoon after the truck which transported approximately 235 pigs in a tractor-tailor overturned in the early hours of Monday morning.

A report states that pigs were killed in the impact and some were euthanised due to the accident. Inspectors with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency assessed all the pigs before the highway was completely reopened again.
