New mould inhibitor enters the market
Fylax Forte, being launched by Trouw Nutrition as part of the Selko Organic Acids range, is a new mould inhibitor effective at controlling moulds on compound animal feeds and their raw materials.
Fylax Forte is produced by production technology that creates activated proprionates that are held in micelle structures, enabling it to kill moulds more effectively than conventional products. This technology is based on important research findings from the Ingredient Research Centre of parent company Nutreco and TNI Feed Additives own research laboratory.
In trials, Fylax Forte proved highly effective against the typical mould species Aspergillus, Fusarium, Penecillium and Zygomycetes. It was tested in the laboratory and under commercial storage conditions that were optimised for mould growth.
“The trials showed a 60% stronger efficacy of Fylax Forte compared with common industrial standard products,” says Maarten van der Heijden, Product Manager Selko Preservation. “The result is a mould inhibitor that delivers the required shelf life together with important cost savings.”
