Japan lifts Chilean pork restrictions
Chilean pork can now be exported to Japan without restrictions, the Agriculture Ministry has announced.
The ban on imported Chilean pork from 18 places was imposed by Japan following dioxin detection in the pork last year. Thanks to the measures taken by the Agriculture Live Stock Service, it is verified that these places are not polluted anymore.
“This measure reveals the professionalism reached by the services of this ministry, and it is about to reach Chile's goal of becoming a food power,”Agriculture Minister Marigen Hornkohl said.
The Association of Pork Producers of Chile has proposed to improve the image of Chilean pork in Japan through the trade mark "ChilePork" as part of its international exporting strategy.
