New pork breeding facility in Russia
Cherkizovo Group OJSC, one of Russia's leading
integrated and diversified meat producers, has announced that it has
commissioned the first module at its new state-of-the-art pork breeding facility
located in the Tambov region.
The Tambov pork complex will ultimately consist of two
modules with a total completed capacity to breed more than 200,000 pigs per
year. This is anticipated to translate into 12,500 tonnes of live weight per
year in each module.
The Group expects the first module
commissioned today will be operating at full capacity by mid 2009. It is
expected that the second module will be operational in the second half of the
2008 financial year, and will reach full capacity by the second half of 2009
financial year.
