McDonald’s campaign aims to bust bacon myths

Global fast food giant McDonald’s has now launched a new campaign that will aim to “bust myths” regarding consumer issues, such as where their meat is from and the quality of the food they offer.

The new campaign includes a website, television adverts, billboards and food facts on packaging. It is reported that at a later stage the company will also add camera shots of where it sources its food to bust myths about such things as the quality of its bacon, beef and chicken.

“At the volume we sell and the prices we sell at, it is no surprise there are misconceptions about our food and where it comes from,” said McDonald’s spokeswoman Danya Proud.

The new website provides answers to questions that are frequently asked by consumers.

The website’s “From farm to restaurant” section, which is coming soon, states: “We’re taking cameras out to the fields and farms to give you the full picture on McDonald’s farming and sourcing processes. For the first time, you’ll get to see exactly where your food comes from, and how it ends up on your plate.”

And in the site’s “Meet our suppliers section”, which is also coming soon, states: “Our suppliers are the best in the world when it comes to food quality, safety and animal welfare standards. You’re invited to meet some of them, and find out exactly what it takes to become a McDonald’s supplier.”
