Aurora: a cooperative that went big
Altogether 2.7 million pigs slaughtered; 258,600
tonnes of fresh and 225,200 tonnes of processed pig products; 9,200 direct jobs
and 46,000 indirect. That was the Aurora pig sector in 2006, a union of 17 food
sector co-ops which in 36 years, has grown to become Brazil's third largest
company in the pig sector and the third largest co-op
overall.
