Stamps celebrate year of pig

28-12-2006 | |

Three stamps by Taiwan’s Chungwa Post Co. Ltd celebrate the upcoming Year of the Pig by portraying… pigs.

On the main stamp, two red and gold piglets smile at each other, representing nobility and joy, according to the post’s website.

Two smaller stamps show a cartoon-style pig set against a background of the red drums used to celebrate the new year’s arrival.

As the last of the 12 animals in the zodiac, the pig brings to a close the fourth series of zodiac stamps issued by Chunghwa since it started the annual tradition in 1968.
