Poland hopes to see Ukrainian market reopening
Ukrainian borders might soon be reopened for Polish
pork exports.
Next week, an Ukrainian veterinarian delegation will pay a visit to eight
abattoirs and meat processing plants in Poland. This could well be announcing
the opening up of the Ukrainian borders, for long a subject for debate.
Poland welcomes its pork exports expansion, because its production grew
too. In the first months of 2006, slaughterhouses produced 1.09 tonnes of
pigmeat - a 10% growth in comparison to the same period in 2005.
Russia
Russia on the other hand remains closed for Polish pork. The world's
largest country keeps its borders closed for various Polish products, both
from animal and vegetable origin.
