Increasing biosecurity awareness at farm level
Pork production in the United States has changed dramatically over the last
20 years. Today, the largest 1% of all US pork producers represents
approximately 60% of all annual production while the smallest 60% represent only
1% of annual production. With the high pig density on most modern hog farms,
proper biosecurity is essential to protect swine against the transmission of
disease between or among herds.
