Salmonella incidence reduced via water
A 300-sow
integrated pig unit in Ireland had two major concerns: repeated high Salmonella
ELISA scores; and, high TBCs (Total Bacteria Counts) from a deep well water
source. Evidence from previous field studies in poultry production indicated
positive benefits, in terms of reduced Salmonella incidence¹ and improved water
quality¹`² by the introduction of water disinfection using sodium
dichloroisocyanurate.
