Russia lifts ban on Belarusian pork
Russia has lifted a ban on imported pork produced by several Belarusian enterprises, this comes as the African Swine Fever situation has improved, said a report of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor).
“The analysis of information about the measures taken by the Belarusian veterinary control department to combat African Swine Fever and the results of Rosselkhoznadzor’s inspection of Belarusian pork manufacturers have allowed lifting temporary restrictions on the imports of pork produced by Minsk Meat Packing Plant, Borisov Meat Processing Plant and Slutsk Meat-Processing Enterprise,” Rosselkhoznadzor noted.
The report added that during recent months no outbreak of ASF has been registered in Belarus. According to the Russian veterinary specialists this means that their Belarusian colleagues have implemented effective and strict enough system of control over the spread of the virus in the country.
Earlier Belarus adopted tough measures to fight ASF. The communities where the disease was detected were banned from keeping pigs for at least six months after all the pigs were slaughtered and veterinary and sanitary measures were enacted.
