How to treat Lawsonia intracellularis?

Traditionally, ileitis can be can be controlled by antibiotic treatment. In many cases however this proves too late. The procedure costs a lot for farmers, as the pigs don’t fully recover after the treatment. Field trials in Denmark conclude that controlling ileitis by vaccination could be more rewarding.
