Sanctions cancel Danish piglet exports
Piglet exports from Denmark have been cancelled after
the Danish ministry of consumer and family affairs withdrew the gathering permit
for two export companies.
Minister Carina Christensen explained the
measure because the transporting companies (Niels Vinderslev and Henrik
Westergaard) had broken the rules for transports. Christensen said this was
proven by a television report by the broadcasting company
In Northern Germany, the
transporters had loaded slaughter sows from Denmark in different carriages. This
was their way to deal with the requirement that sows for slaughter can only be
transported for a maximum of eight hours.
There are many protests
against this requirement, which is possibly not in accordance with EU
