It is important to understand the process of how nutrient requirements for pigs are estimated, in order to appreciate the fact that they are the best estimates of nutrient needs at the time of publication. Requirements will obviously change as genetic improvements are made and as more
research becomes available, clarifying the animal's nutrient needs under
different conditions.
