The world is waiting for the Chinese Year of the Pig to arrive. The event has set many business people all around the world in motion. China will shortly see a new piggy stamp – with flavour and smell, the US is preparing for pork promotions.
The stamp, issued by the Chinese Post Office, smells of sweet and sour pork – when scratching the front. When licking the back however, it tastes of that dish too.
The post office will release the stamps next month, with the Year of the Pig officially starting February 18th.
In Chinese astrology, the pig is tolerant, understanding, sensual, enthusiastic, sympathetic and realistic – moreover, it is considered to be a peace keeper.
In the US, preparations are on the way for by the National Pork Board (NPB) to celebrate the new Chinese New Year in style.
On February 19th, a 15-day festival commences marking the start of the Chinese year 4705 –the NPB will join Asian food manufacturer La Choy in a US campaign to promote fresh pork and sauces and products.
A media tour, using TV, radio and newspapers, will be part of the efforts to advertise pork recipes for the New Year.
