27-10-2009 | |

Already 400 companies from 32 countries have registered for the upcoming issue of the international exhibition VIV Europe 2010. The show will take place April 20-22, 2010 in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht, the Netherlands.

In total, already 75% of the exhibition floor has been covered now.

Official opening
During the official opening of VIV Europe 2010, three guest speakers will discuss issues of development concerning the innovative animal husbandry. Prof Dr John Hodges, animal geneticist, will elaborate on ‘Sustainable Agriculture and Food’.

Gerda Verburg, Dutch minister of agriculture, nature and food quality will discuss ‘Nature and Food Quality’ and Nan-Dirk Mulder, associate director, Food & Agri Research/Rabobank, will share information about ‘Global investments in the animal protein sector’.

Feed to meat
The feed to meat chain concept will once more be present at the show. The venue will have a clear division in specific sectors, divided in the beginning, middle and end of the animal protein chain. The division has been made to visualise the different parts of the feed to meat chain.

Themes
In 2010, two special themes with related conferences will be presented at the exhibition, Eggs! and Meat Safety.

First launched at VIV Asia 2009, the special theme Eggs! will continue in Europe. The theme will have its own pavilion at the exhibition floor. Several activities will take place at the pavilion including conferences, an Eggs! Museum and an Eggs! Information Lounge. These activities will make sure that global producers and buyers learn more about new products, best practices and developments in the global egg industry, related to the egg track.©

Meat safety
The Meat Safety Pavilion will be the meeting place for innovative development regarding meat safety. In co-operation with a steering committee, themes and topics are developed to inform and advise about safety in meat production and processing. Conferences on meat safety and meat safety stands will be present at the pavilion.

Conferences and technical sessions
A conference on incubation, an international postgraduate course and a conference of COST and the European Science Foundation will be held. Besides these conferences, technical sessions will be offered, in which companies and researchers will give educational presentations.
