New records in German pork exports
German pork exports have been rapidly increasing in
2008, according to ZMP figures. International demand is growing and recent
export agreements have been supporting this trend as well.
Especially in Russia and Hong Kong/China German pork is in a great demand.
Lately selling opportunities in Eastern Europe have also
improved.
Altogether, on the basis of estimates by the German market
institute (ZMP) for the year 2008, over 1.8 million tonnes pork may have been
sold outside Germany, which would mean a sharp growth of 20%.
German
imports of pork will be approximately 1.2 million tonnes, just slightly more
than in 2007.
