11-09-2007 | |

Animal nutrition company, Alltech has joined an elite group of 300 companies in Dalian, China, at the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Inaugural Annual Meeting of the New Champions.

The Forum is been called the ‘summer Davos’. WEF founder and executive chairman, Prof Klaus Schwab, explained that the selected 300 companies are the ones driving global growth. ‘As the world comes to terms with a host of global challenges new champions are emerging to lead industries and drive solutions in the future.’ Schwab also said that the new champions ‘challenging the status quo’ are recognised as top performers in their sector, are innovative, flexible and act with speed.

The recent Forum allows the next generation of business leaders to meet, co-operate and exchange ideas on industry issues, innovative technology, markets, regulatory systems as well as new business models. Participants include business leaders from fast growing companies as well as leaders from global corporations, and were joined by national and international political figures.

Alltech was the only animal health or nutrition company present at the new champions meeting, which is now trading in 91 countries with over 76 companies, with growth being driven primarily by the demand for natural feed ingredients for farm and companion animals. The company’s turnover for 2007 will approach $400 million, up 24-26% for the fiscal year.

Alltech’s Vice President, Aidan Connolly: ‘To be selected by the WEF to attend this event is a great honour for Alltech and validates the path we have taken over the past 27 years. Alltech is recognised today as a global leader in agriculture and joining the group of new champions of the WEF means this success is being recognised in a wider sphere.’
