Russia bans some pork from Germany

Russian veterinary authorities will ban some pork imports from Germany because of Salmonella fears.

The Russian food safety watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor will block the pork imports as from May 3, following the discovery of Salmonella in around 17 tonnes of pork skins.

More discoveries in over 50 tonnes of poultry from Brazil, around 25 tonnes of poultry from the US led to additional blocks from meat plants in these countries too.

Rosselkhoznadzor has now called on the three countries’ veterinary authorities to investigate the problem.
