Premix approved in Canada for Glässer’s disease
Pulmotil premix from Elanco Animal Health has received approval in Canada as the first in-feed solution to Glässer’s disease.
The global animal health company received Canadian regulatory approval October 2, 2007, for the sale of the premix as an aid in reducing the severity of Glässer’s disease (porcine polyserositis and arthritis associated with Haemophilus parasuis) when fed to pigs approximately seven days prior to an anticipated outbreak.
Strong start
The company recommends feeding the product the first three weeks after weaning. This protocol can help an animal make a strong start, which in turn can help producers yield better animals. Producers also benefit from the convenience of a feed-based regimen.
The animal health product is also approved as an aid to reduce the severity of swine respiratory disease associated with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and Pasteurella multocida.
The premix is available wherever producers currently purchase their in-feed medications.
