Government scheme to help pig farmers

18-12-2007 | |

French farm minister Michel Barnier announced at the weekend a government scheme to help the country’s pig farmers.

Under the scheme, a budget of €30 million has been allocated to help the country’s pig farmers in debt, young farmers and recent investors to meet the interest charges on their loans.

The scheme is intended to “support pig farmers and maintain a diversified sector.” It will come into operation on January 1, 2008.
