Majority of German pig producers prefer home mixing
A 69% majority of German pig producers prefer home mixing of their swine feed. This was concluded in a survey by market bureau Agri Direct among 5,000 representative producers.
A minority of 45.6% purchase its compound feed entirely or partly. Among finisher producers the percentage of home mixers is even larger – almost 71%. Still, about 43% purchases all or part of its compound feed from an external party.
Among breeders, about 65% prefers home-mixed feed; almost 46% purchases its compound feed entirely or partly.
In poultry production, the preference for compound feed from an external producer is clearly higher – almost 77% does so. Only just over 33% mixes at home.
