Nutral, an animal nutrition company in the Provimi Group, announced the release of Factor-P, an alternative to animal plasma.
A blend of natural ingredients in Factor-P includes egg proteins, milk
components, vegetable proteins and fibre fractions, plus minerals.
It is suitable for post-weaning piglet diets from day 21 to 42 with the
cost claimed to be substantially lower than that of plasma, with potential
savings in the area of at least €150 per ton of complete feed. In a series of
controlled trials, both ingredients significantly improved piglet performance
over a negative control .
The new product is suitable for simple and complex diets. It is most
effective in least-cost diets, because with minimal additional cost, feed intake
and piglet growth are both greatly enhanced.
