In the month of June various reports were submitted to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE). Last week, two cases of ASF were found in dead wild boars, in Krasnodar Krai and Adygea Republic.
Shortly before, two farms had been found infected in Rostov Oblast. In the first farm, of 1,000 animals, two dead animals were found after which 117 pigs had to be destroyed. In the second, a farm of 277 animals, four pigs were found having ASF of which one already had died. The rest of the farm's population was destroyed.
Village
Earlier this month, a population of 126 pigs in a village in Adygea Republic was culled after twelve pigs had died from African Swine Fever.
Since the last series of outbreaks has been reported in the South of Russia in May, about 6,000 pigs had to be culled. And in the whole of 2010, about 17,000 infected animals have already been culled.
