Chinese pig shines at local sporting event 19 Nov 2007
Xiao Shaohang, owner of a 1,040kg white sow, hogged
the spotlight at an event in Ningxiang County in China’s Hunan Province, by
announcing that he planned to donate the five-year old to next summer’s Olympic
Games in Beijing.
The Chinese believe that pigs bring wealth and good luck.
Shaohong refused an offer of 50,000 yuan (US$6,735) for the pig standing by
his plan to donate the animal.
