The slaughter will take place in the southern prefecture of Miyazaki due to an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.
Cows and pigs
Reports state that 73,653 pigs and 6,604 cows will be sent to slaughter from 86 farms.
Hirotaka Akamatsu, Japan’s Farm Minister stated that the government will compensate farmers.
