Large US pork producer acquires Blackjack pork

The seventh-largest pork production system in the U.S. in sow numbers, The Maschhoffs has announced the acquisition of Blackjack Pork LLC of Ames, Iowa.

 
Included in the deal are approximately 20,000 sows, related market hog production and contract production facilities in Illinois, Iowa and Oklahoma. The acquisition would increase The Maschhoffs production to 130,000 sows and more than 2.7 million hogs per year.
