Biomin sponsors ISM Conference 2009

//15 Apr 2009
Biomin will be a Gold Sponsor for this year’s International Society for Mycotoxicology Conference which is set to be held from 9th to 11th of September 2009 in Tulln, Austria. The global discussion forum will focus on “Worldwide Mycotoxins Reduction in Food and Feed Chains”.

The International Society for Mycotoxicology aims to increase scientific knowledge concerning biology, chemistry and any sciences/disciplines related to mycotoxins and toxigenic fungi, through membership networking, scientific meetings, symposia, discussions, technical courses and publications.

The aim of this conference is to facilitate discussion and collaboration between scientists, opinion leaders, decision-makers and industry in the specific research area of mycotoxins reduction in the food and feed chains. Participants from within and outside the European Union will extend the already existing linkages on reduction of mycotoxins contamination within continental and national networks to a global level.

The discussion forum will take place in a unique setting in Tulln (35 km from Vienna) - Austria with excellent conference facilities near the IFA-Tulln. Innovative (bio-) technological solutions for the reduction of the most relevant mycotoxins that concern agrifood producers and consumers will be discussed in four scientific sessions:
1. Pre-harvest mycotoxins reduction
2. Post-harvest mycotoxins reduction
3. Bioavailability and detoxification of mycotoxins
4. Advanced technologies to reduce and detect toxigenic fungi and mycotoxins

In each session, invited speakers will give keynote lectures on the latest state-of-the-art in the area of interest. In addition to oral and poster presentations, round table discussions of the conference topics will be organised and will enable a fruitful dialogue between scientists and the food and feed industry as well as between researchers from all parts of the world.

Additionally, an exhibition area has been booked for companies to introduce their services related to analysis and testing material for mycotoxins, prevention and control as well as consultancy, training and other services. Furthermore, a couple of spotlight presentations will be given by exhibitors parallel to the scientific program.
