Four new cases of African Swine Fever in Sardinia

18 Jan 2012 - At the Italian island of Sardina, four new outbreaks of African Swine Fever have been confirmed in December 2011 and January 2012, Dutch agricultural newspaper Boerderij Vandaag reports. At the island only, the disease is endemic. Read more >>

Irish pork processor acquires plant in heart of Ireland

18 Jan 2012 - The strength of the Irish pig processing giant Rosderra has just been strengthened due to the purchase of the unused pig processing factory in the town of Roscrea, in Tipperary county. The plant was previously known as the Parkmore factory which was owned by pork processor Galtee. Rosderra acquired the plant in the last weeks of 2011. Read more >>

PIC sends first shipment of breeding pigs from USA to Russia

17 Jan 2012 - PIC has completed delivery of 1,071 high health breeding pigs from the USA to key account Gvardia in the Stavropol Region of Russia. Cargill: Q2 fiscal 2012 earnings

12 Jan 2012 - Cargill reported $100 million in earnings from continuing operations in the fiscal 2012 second quarter ended Nov. 30, 2011, an 88 percent decrease from $832 million in the same period a year ago. In the first six months, earnings from continuing operations were $336 million, compared with $1.53 billion in last year’s first half.
