AMI responds to Russian pork ban

Smithfield 2nd quarter loss
11 Dec 2009 - Smithfield reported sales of $2.7 billion versus $3.1 billion in the same period last year. The decrease is attributable to lower fresh pork selling prices, exchange rate changes in international operations and significantly lower hog prices in the US hog production business.

Pig brain mist caused slaughter worker illness

Zhongpin to open new pork plant in Jan
10 Dec 2009 - Zhongpin's construction of its new chilled and frozen pork processing plant in Tianjin has been accelerated. The new facility will begin initial pork production on January 20. When all the construction phases are completed in 2010, the Tianjin plant will have an annual capacity of 100,000 metric tonnes for chilled and frozen pork. Read more >>
