Chilean pork sales affected by Korean ruling 20 Nov 2008

In August, South Korea suspended imports of Chilean pork after detecting unacceptable levels of dioxins in shipments. Chilean officials have blamed the contamination on batches of feed containing zinc oxide. The Chilean government has sent documentation to South Korea clarifying the origins of the contamination and outlining measures taken to prevent a repeat of the problem.

The South Korean market accounted for around a third of all Chilean pork exports prior to the ban.
